Tess Tchou

Teresita Miranda Tchou, more familiarly known as Tess Tchou, began her membership and association with ACA through her husband, Raymond Tchou. This association partly enabled the Chinese Community Center (CCC) to become an important partner and participant in several health and wellness fairs which Tess coordinated for the Philippine American Community Center of Michigan (PACCM).

Tess Tchou’s career background includes positions with the University of Michigan, first as a Sr. Instructional Associate (School of Dentistry) and later as a Filipino Program Coordinator for Healthy Asian Americans Project (School of Nursing). In between, she became the Executive Director of the Tri-County Dental Council under the United Foundation/United Way of Southeastern Michigan, worked as a high school Social Studies teacher in Michigan’s public and private school systems, and is now self-employed as a Tagalog court interpreter.

Tess’ professional background, personal, and community interests are reflected in her current involvements, among them: as a development and community outreach volunteer at St. Christine Soup Kitchen, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, the Advisory Board of the Detroit Women’s Forum, and the Filipino American Historical Society.
